John Young

Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer

John joined the Samuel Land Company team in March of 2012. As EVP & COO, he oversees the day to day operations of the company, and assists Damian with forming and carrying out the growth strategy of SLC. In addition, John handles all financing, acquisition/disposition activity, and lender/third party relations.

Prior to joining SLC, John spent over 12 years with Zamias Services, Inc., of Johnstown, PA. Zamias Services is a sister company to George D. Zamias Developer, one of the original shopping center developers in the country. John served as Vice President of Asset Management for Zamias Services, overseeing a retail portfolio of 28 properties in 5 states and comprising 8,100,000 sf. He also assisted in the underwriting, financing, acquisition and disposition of over $1 Billion of commercial real estate.

John has an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh’s Katz Graduate School of Business, and was a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, where he earned a B.A. in English Literature. John lives in Ebensburg, PA with his wife Stephanie and their 3 children.
